Fosfomycin is an antibiotic with bactericidal activity that kills bacteria by inhibiting synthesis of cell walls. It has a high bioavailability, low binding to plasmatic proteins and low toxicity. Used for treatment of infections caused by Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria such as: E. coli, Salmonella, Pasteurella, Proteus, Haemophilus, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus and Corynebacterium.
